Well this all new to me, so if I make a few stuff ups or spelling mistake …. I’m sorry. First of all I must thank Rich at Marshall Creative for helping me establish the new website, you guys should give Rich a call if you need advice or help.
So what am I going to use this Blog for? well like everyone else to keep you up to date on my ramblings, ideas and thoughts. Some of you make think it’s just waffle, however I’m hoping to make it interesting waffle… might make you laugh or even think about something. Whats the content? well cabbages its Photography, Food, and what I think about certain things hopefully it wont be worth litigating me though.
So Food is one of my fav subjects I love it I like eating it and I love making it…. In fact it’s very similar to Photography…. how come you say? Well you have to create it just like an image Balance, composition, colour, light, emotion and how it makes you feel. We use our camera it’s facilities such as the lens, exposure the shutter a number of different variances all go into making an image. I do the same for food you need ingredients, a cooker, tools etc. These all combine to make a dish just the same as we do for an image. I ‘m very particular on how how I take photographs and guess what I’m the same for my food. One of of the most factious developments in photography is the invention of digital recording devices known as the “CAMERA” the food industry hasn’t gone through this involvement yet although I’m sure it will god knows how. The camera along with the computer and a truck load of programs now all combine to create your image, sometimes some cabbages don’t even have to think, as it does it all for you. Just like a TV dinner! but has it got any passion, emotion any connectivity to the viewer or in the case of food the taster? I suppose that’s up to the individual. I’ve added two images to today’s Blog one taken 15 years ago without any digital enhancement and the other full of digital work…. tell me which one is which
Probably easy and I think it is the “CLOWN” was taken about 15 years ago and done in the darkroom “MAYFAIR” is shot in 4 different locations and worked on in the comfort of my Studio office and not a smelly darkroom. In the end of the day they still covey an emotion and a presence the only thing that has changed is technology…. it’s all good.
Now for FOOD here’s a little recipe to share with you This is a page from my Book that my mate Jon Spice and me are in the process of completing The book is “OUR FOOD OUR ART”
All the best and catch up soon…… Greg
